neighbors...

we have lived in the country for the past 6 years. when i say country... i mean it, there were no neighbors! our kids didn't have anyone to play with unless we went into town. i mean the occasional rabid dog that would pass through the yard, (and we actually caught them riding the four wheeler with one on the back, looking as though it had been invited to be a part of our family) but other than each other, no one! so when we moved to the BIG city as we call it.. (our friends still think we are in the boonies) we have neighbors! now i grew up in the country, no visitors...EVER! i was always so envious of those kids who had that neighborhood life, the friends, the golf-carts, the running across the street to the store to buy a coke. all i had was cow patties! but now, my kids are those kids i was so jealous of. just on our street, there are 12 kids under the age of 12! they have so much fun, they beg for us to get them to the bus stop early just so they have that much more playing time! i really enjoy seeing them so happy! it's me, it is me that has the adjusting to do. being that i grew up so isolated, it is all to new to me to have to be ready to see people any time i open the door! no more wearing my PJ's all day long, no more walking through the house in just my underclothes! nope, now i have to live civilized!! i've got some getting used to this to do!!
